-  Australian Competition and Consumer Commission

The ACCC promotes competition and fair trade in the market place to benefit consumers, business and the community. Its primary responsibility is to ensure that individuals and businesses comply with the Commonwealth competition, fair trading and consumer protection laws (source).

-  Australian Communications and Media Authority

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) is responsible for the regulation of broadcasting, radiocommunications, telecommunications and online content. Amongst other things it aims to protect consumers and other users whilst fostering an environment in which electronic media respect community standards and respond to audience and user needs (source).

-  Australian Federal Police/ Australian High Tech Crime Centre

The Australian High Tech Crime Centre (AHTCC), hosted in Canberra by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) aims to provide a coordinated approach to combating high tech crime in Australia. Crimes can include computer intrusions, unauthorised modification of data and the creation or distribution of malicious software (viruses or Trojans). It should be noted that a crime is not necessarily considered ’high tech’ because technology has been used, for example frauds that are conducted online are not always regarded as ’high tech’ (source).

-  Australian Security and Investments Commission

The Australian Securities & Investments Commission enforces and regulates company and financial services laws to protect consumers, investors and creditors. It provides general information about spam via its consumer website, FIDO (source).

-  Korea Information Security Agency

The Korea Information Security Agency was established by the Information Facilitation Act No. 14 in April, 1996. It aims to establish a safe and reliable information society through the development and support of security-related information technology, as well as in-depth policy research on enhancing information security (source).

-  Korea Fair Trade Commission

The KFTC is responsible for enacting and enforcing competition laws as well as protecting consumers from market economy, thereby ultimately aiming to enhance transparency in business activities and boosting competition in the market environment. It is a ministerial-level central administrative organization under the authority of the Prime Minister and also functions as a quasi-judiciary body. It performs its roles and duties independently without any intervention from an outside organization (source).

-  Korea Consumer Protection Board

The KCBP is a governmental consumer protection organization established in July 1987 under the Consumer protection act.

-  Public Prosecutors

The role of public prosecutors under the criminal justice system of Korea may be categorized into three fields: investigation, prosecution and other crime-proving activities, and execution of the sentence (source).

The Department is New Zealand’s oldest, tracing its origins back to the first Colonial Secretary’s Office established in 1840. It is known as ’the Mother of all Departments’, because of its involvement in nurturing a wide range of government organisations (source).

-  The Consumer Ombudsman

Norway’s consumer protection agency is in charge of enforcing the Marketing Control Act (with regards to unsolicited commercial communication to consumers). Its powers are administrative; it may request for information and injunctions, ask police for assistance or refer cases to the public prosecutor. International cooperation is possible, as long as the information in question is not confidential according to the Act relating to Publicity in the Public Administration.

-  The Norwegian Police

Has powers of criminal enforcement with regards to the Marketing Control Act: unsolicited commercial communication to other natural persons than consumers; fraud, computer crime etc. International cooperation is possible, as long as the information in question is not confidential according to the Act relating to Publicity in the Public Administration.

-  Økokrim

Økokrim is the Norwegian national authority for the investigation and prosecution of economic and environmental crime.

-  The Data Inspectorate

Norway’s authority in charge of the enforcement of the Personal Data Act of 2000.

-  Office for Competition and Consumer Protection

The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection was established in 1990 to counteract anti-competitive agreements and the abuse of dominant market positions. The Act of 15 December 2000 on competition and consumer protection (enforced as of April 2001) defined the principles of functioning of the entire system of competition and consumer protection, in which the President of the OCCP takes the central position (source).

-  Inspector General for the Protection of Personal Data (GIODO)

The purpose of this government authority is to promote and enforce the laws outlined in the Act of August 29, 1997 on the Protection of Personal Data. Mrs Ewa Kulesza, Ph.D., was the first Inspector General for the Protection of Personal Data and entered her second four-year term in 2002.

-  Federal Trade Commission

The FTC is the official consumer protection agency of the United States. It is an independent agency which reports directly to congress on its actions. Tasks regarding the Internet include taking action against irresponsible e-commerce and marketing practices (source).

-  Department of Justice

The DOJ is the government body responsible for enforcing the laws of the United States. As such, individuals and companies may refer to it in cases of Internet fraud or violations of the CAN-SPAM Act.

-  Federal Communications Commission

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is an independent United States government agency, directly responsible to Congress. It is in charge of regulating national and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable. As such, when it comes to matters related to spam and the CAN-SPAM Act, its scope mainly covers unsolicited messages on mobile devices (source).
